Pico is the second largest island of the nine in the Azores however the population is around 14,000 compared to Sao Miguels 137,000.

​

Pico is known as one of the best places to watch whales and dolphins in the world.

​

There are regular festivals and cultural events around the island.

​

It is easy to travel between São Jorge, Pico and Faial on a ferry that takes cars, this opens many adventurous possibilities even though it is said that the best reason to leave Pico is to look back and see its majestic silhouette!

At 2351m Pico is the highest mountain in Portugal and the name of the second largest island in the Azores
